CELEBRATION OF INDIAN ARRIVAL DAY 2026
“Mr Junior Bacchus, President of the SVG Indian Heritage Foundation, all Executive members, supporters and friends of the Indian communities in SVG and the Diaspora are pleased to present the celebration of Indian Arrival Day 2026.
Monday June 1st 2025 will mark the 165th anniversary of the arrival of 2,474 Indians from India to SVG during the years 1861 to 1880.
This year, the Foundation will hold its annual re-enactment and official ceremony at Indian Bay on Sunday May 31st 2026 at 4.00 p.m.
The Programme will include: the arrival of persons dressed in Indian wear, on a boat, registration to the various estates, a photo session, an official ceremony: observance of a minute’s silence for persons of Indian Heritage, who passed on during the year 2025 to 2026, remarks by the President, the Hon. Prime Minister, the Hon. Minister of Culture and Leader of the Opposition, H.E. Mr Subhash Gupta, Ambassador of India, Suriname, a Featured Artiste from Guyana, Sonia Singh; award winning singer, dancer and cultural Ambassador and the 2026 Chutney Monarch, entertainment by Mr Saeed Bowman of SVG and “a taste of India” for everyone. The SVG Indian Heritage Foundation takes this opportunity to:
- Invite persons to join us on the boat. Be at the Young Island dock at 3.30 p.m.
- Invite everyone in SVG to attend the function at Indian Bay on Sunday May 31st 2026 at 4.00 p.m.
- Encourage all citizens of SVG and in the Diaspora to participate in the celebrations, by wearing an Indian outfit and eating Indian food on Sunday May 31st
